Brighter Planet Announces Copenhagen Care Package
Environmental company plans to support clean energy advocates in Copenhagen

MIDDLEBURY, VT, December 13, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brighter Planet, a Vermont-based environmental solutions leader, announced today that it has launched three initiatives to provide support for those fighting for a clean energy future at COP15.

Conference attendees can purchase premium renewable energy carbon offsets at a discounted rate to mitigate the climate impact of their travel and stay in Copenhagen. As a show of support for the target of 350 ppm of carbon dioxide in international climate negotiations, Brighter Planet is reducing the Copenhagen Summit Travel offset price by $3.50 per ton. Climate leaders can now "walk the talk" and take charge of their own environmental impact while making a difference overseas.

Brighter Planet is also sponsoring the SustainUS Copenhagen delegation, by granting them $5,000 in funding through their crowd-powered Project Fund, and by offsetting their travel. The SustainUS team is comprised of 27 outstanding youth delegates, many of which would not be able to attend the conference without the funding.

To continue the cause beyond Copenhagen, Brighter Planet is establishing the Courier Fellowship. Traveling the world to fight for the climate is necessary, but it comes with a carbon cost. The Courier Fellowship is designed to mitigate this cost by offsetting the travel of some of the world's foremost climate leaders, including Brighter Planet Advisory Board members Bill McKibben and Billy Parish.
"Action at home is as important as action in Copenhagen," said Jon Isham, Brighter Planet co-founder. "Brighter Planet is making a bold statement by investing in domestic renewable energy and supporting those who can make a difference in this conference."
