The Vermont International Choral Festival is honored to announce the 2009 Massed Sing Concert Performance directed by Mr. Robert De Cormier
On Saturday, June 13th, at Ira Allen Chapel on the University of Vermont Campus, Robert De Cormier shall conduct a 200 voice choral concert. The concert is open to the public and shall begin at 7:00 pm in the evening.
BURLINGTON, VT, May 31, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Vermont International Choral Festival in conjunction with Music Contact International announce the date for the 2009 Massed Sing Festival Concert directed by Mr. Robert De Cormier. The concert will be presented at Ira Allen Chapel by choirs from across North America on Saturday, June 13 at 7:00 pm. This year's festival celebrates the Bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth with the 200 voice festival choir singing songs of "Lincoln and Liberty" under the baton of Mr. Robert De Cormier, director of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra Choir and Counterpoint.
The Vermont International Choral Festival is celebrating its sixth season this year. This year's guest choruses and an orchestra from California shall be arriving in the area on June 11th, 2009 from Arizona, Canada, New York, Massachusetts and Vermont to share their music with Vermonters and visitors.
The festival begins with an opening ceremony for participants at the Stowe community Church on Thursday June 11th. Participating choirs have the opportunity to attend 6 hours of rehearsals in preparation for the Massed Sing concert led by Mr. Robert De Cormier. In addition attendees will be sharing their gift of song in performances at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, The Converse Home in Burlington and Shelburne Bay Senior Living Community in Shelburne on Friday. A series of concerts are to be held at the Stowe Community Church on Saturday.
The Festival will culminate on Saturday evening June 13th, 2009 with the extraordinary Massed Sing concert and individual choir performances at Ira Allen Chapel in Burlington.
The repertoire for this year's Massed Sing concert is comprised of musical arrangements by Mr. De Cormier that compliment his chosen theme, "Lincoln and Liberty", in recognition of the Bicentennial of Lincoln's birth.
The event is going to be an incredible musical weekend for Vermont!
Tickets for the Massed Sing concert at Ira Allen Chapel on Saturday, June 13, 2009 may be purchased at the door or by calling (802)862-2200. Adults are $15.00 while children, students and seniors are $5.00.
